Yo, son! I'm all hyped about March 15th, yo!
We got Box Of Crayons performing for our ElevAtioN event at Lucky 13
Saloon. They are a big deal and you'd be a fool to miss them. They've been making music and doing shows for over 10 years
and have many albums out there. They pack the house at Connolly's in Manhattan every year on St Paddy's Day and you could
see them for free two days earlier. Your neighbors and friends will be so jealous of you, unless you bring them along, of
course. The more the merrier.
Spinning as guest DJ between sets is none
other than Alex Von Nihil, former resident of Velocity and current resident of the Rock 'n' Roll Girly Show.
This band, this DJ, this whole show is a big deal that only a fool would
miss because it is absolutely free! Waste no time! RSVP
See you there!
I guess it's about time for another blog.
On this one, I will cover the subject of reputation. I often converse
with all who are part of the nest and I say onto them "You got a rep to protect". My blog doesn't ruin reputations.
People ruin their own reputations. I'd come on here and talk about stupid things stupid people do and get a stupid voicemail
from someone stupid telling me to take something down, which I have in the past only because the person's name was mentioned
specifically (I have to teach myself to stop doing that) but on the flip side, there are instances when I discuss with you,
my listeners and readers, the error of people's ways and still would get texts and voicemails with someone on the other end
barking orders at me to get off the subject. Why? Does the shoe fit or something? If I'm so unimportant, why should certain
people care what I type on here? If I type something and it magically is perceived as something that applies to you am I ruining
your rep or are you ruining your rep? I changed my number, by the way. I couldn't take the stupid voicemails and texts from
stupid people. I made sure the rest of the nest has my number though. I've got to stay in contact with my other Crowned Eagle
people. You never know when I have to turn this operation into something violent and criminal and have to make some calls
to assign my people to carry out my manifesto of madness... But we have a rep to protect so if it happens, you won't even
know it's us.
All kidding aside, persona, how you're
perceived and how you want to be perceived play a big role in the entertainment world but also in life itself. In life, I
don't do anything that M.C. Too Tall, the stage persona wouldn't do but there are things I wouldn't do in the streets that
I may feel is absolutely necessary to do on stage. With performer and fans feeding off each other, these things happen. At
the same time, it is necessary to go into character when confronted off stage. Sort of like you pump your ego, I'll pump mine.
Balance is necessary though. It shows you're not a nut job that belongs in a straight jacket.
Some have supported me in the past and are now very much against me. I think it's because my amped up persona
doesn't match up with their perception of me as some quirky nerdy guy who would probably be ineffective defending himself
against a punch in the face. Could be other reasons. Who knows? However, my people, those are not people I want as a support
team anyway. Those who make it a point to attempt to tarnish my reputation are posers who have no real appreciation for the
culture they claim to embrace. They're just looking for a platform to stand on with their fashion and be worshiped. I don't
worship other people. At the end of the day, they're just people. So if these people don't want to throw me any fanfare, best
believe they won't get any from me or my people unless there's a purpose behind it.
Lies could potentially ruin someone unless they're debunked right away. There have been rumors about me from,
indecent exposure to desecration to infidelity and none have caused any adverse effects on me or my brands because first,
they're simply not true and secondly, my rep is solid and intact. If I was out there on a regular basis doing what these people
say I'm doing while making enemies in the process, I'd be done.
I think it comes with consistency. You must stay consistent. I'm known a fierce aggressive performer on stage
who loves his fans and trashes anyone who suggests or outright says that all my hard work is subpar or lackluster. I take
that as an insult not only to my work but to my fans' taste and that of the people who are down with me who helped boost me
and help me keep this going. Dropping the ball and not being consistent with that could damage reputation of M.C. Too Tall.
You could reinvent yourself but once you've reinvented yourself, you can't let anyone or anything, including your own actions
or inactions, tear down your persona. You want to be able to walk the streets without ridicule for an existence that is morally
wrong. Not popular is one thing but being the guy known for unacceptable behavior even among those deemed as social misfits
is wrong. You got a rep to protect. Draw your own lines and don't cross them. Your rep depends on it... and for God's sake,
don't be a poser!
This is M.C. Too Tall.
I will not call or text certain
people. I only do that with people I'm friends with, people I'm doing business with and people I'm generally on good terms
with. To those of you reading this that may not understand, allow me to clarify. My phone is not an outlet for you to yell
at me and try to berate me through my voicemail about things on your end that have nothing to do with me or things on my end
that you have no say over. You are not the big shot of the neighborhood. I am. I'm the one who wheels and deals, I'm the one
with the connects and you are not. This is my world, my neighborhood, I do for my friends 'cause they're my friends and I
do have a lot of friends but make no mistake, I am an underling to no one. Nobody scares me into doing things their way. I
go where I want however I want to get there. Don't tell me places I know are safe aren't safe because of who might be there.
I'm at a level where these small fries can't shut me down. I'm a big shot! Oh!
